| In search of Dracula - Maths on a Motorbike |
A unique Maths based, cross curricular workshop around the planning & preparation of an exciting motorcycle journey to Romania * The workshop is particularly suitable for KS2 & lower KS3 students but is easily adapted for most other ages and learning contexts. It's ideal for general revision and reinforcement of key themes within the Numeracy Curriculum, for engaging reluctant Maths learners (often boys!) or extending your Gifted & Talented Mathematicians....As your students help Nigel plan his trip they will use and apply many Mathematical skills including:
Map reading, communication & languages, healthy eating, staying safe....and much much more! *Please note: Whenever possible, I will actually ride my motorbike (Harley Davidson 1200 cc) to the workshop session. Children, where appropriate, may be allowed to sit on the bike but no riding will take place on school premises. The engine may be started briefly to allow certain measurements to be taken but this will be under very strict safety conditions. In inclement weather a dry, covered or sheltered area would be appreciated so that the children can look, discuss and measure certain parts of the bike. |
